NEWS FROM THE NURSERY COMMITTEE

Nursery Staff Appreciation – Join us in showing our nursery workers just how much we appreciate everything they do. June is Cookie Month for our staff! Please bring a cookie(s) when you bring your little ones to the nursery this month. Bring them once or bring them every visit.

Noah’s Corner car magnets - Show your support for Noah’s Corner. Ask your child’s teacher for a free car magnet.

We love our nursery staff! In April, we showed them our appreciation with an Chick-Fil-A dinner and plan to continue similar impromptu "thank you's" throughout the year. May was Flower Month for our staff! Thanks to all who brought flowers to the staff to show our love & appreciation for the work they do with our children.

Nursery Rules
  1. NO ONE is to enter the nurseries except the caregivers and the children.
  2. All staff, paid and volunteer, must be screened and trained as stated in the DUMC Safe Sanctuary policy.
  3. Please bring your child in disposable diapers or pullups unless he/she is allergic to them.
  4. Give your child and their well labeled diaper bag to the caregiver along with any pertinent information and leave quickly. Your child will be able to adjust more satisfactorily if you do not linger.
  5. Each room has a sign-in sheet for you to sign in your child. List any pertinent information the caregiver should know (i.e., warm bottle, feeding time, soothing techniques, known allergies) and where you can be located in the church building. If you are a new member or visit with us on a regular basis we ask that you complete a Nursery Registration Card so we have the information we need to best care for your child.
  6. Fill out a security sticker (use yellow stickers for special needs or special instructions) and retrieve a security badge from the caregiver.
  7. No child will be released to an adult unless that adult has the appropriate security item.
  8. Silent pagers are available for your convenience.
  9. Please do not to come to the nurseries to see your child until you are ready to leave. We will notify you immediately if an emergency should arise. Seeing you in the doorway, but not getting to leave the nursery can be upsetting.

Illness Policy

Children are a priority at DUMC. We want to care for and love your child as God has asked us to do. Your cooperation is essential for a healthy, safe environment.

Health Guidelines have been established to safeguard the health of children and staff and to comply with State and County regulatory requirements. All paid nursery staff are CPR trained.

Your child should be kept at home when he/she has symptoms of a cold, an infection, or any contagious illness. Please let us know if your child does come down with a contagious illness so that we may notify other parents. IF YOUR CHILD HAS BEEN ILL WITHIN THE PREVIOUS TWENTY-FOUR (24) HOURS, PLEASE KEEP HIM/HER AT HOME. This will minimize the spreading of illnesses among our children. Some signs of illness in a child are:

Unusual fatigue/irritability

Fever

Coughing or sneezing

Runny nose or eyes

Vomiting or Diarrhea

Inflamed mouth/throat

Special Needs

If your child is on medication or has special needs, please notify the caregiver or Nursery Director. It is important to us to meet your child's current needs.

These guidelines are for your child's protection. By following the guidelines, it is our hope that our children will enjoy a healthy environment at church. We appreciate your support.
