SPRIING SOCCER IMPORTANT DATES
Meet and Greet for U4/U5 only: Saturday, March 4
PRACTICES: Kickeroos (U4/U5) begin Saturday, March 11; U6-U12 begin week of February 27.
GAMES : March 11, 18, 25, April 22, 29, May 6, 13. Weeks of May 8-20 reserved for makeups.
PHOTO DAY: Saturday, April 22. Rain (gym) or Shine (field).
SOCCERFEST End of Season Celebration: Saturday, May 13 (Dunwoody UMC field)
RAIN OUT INFORMATION/CANCELLATION: Please check your email for weather-related cancellations. You may also visit the Leisure Ministry page of our website at www.dunwoodyumc.org/leisure and our Facebook page (Dunwoody UMC Sports and Leisure Ministry). To the extent possible, we will also communicate any cancellations by email to coaches and team parents no later than 4:30pm weekdays and 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays, with updates throughout the day as needed.
RESTROOMS: Portable restrooms are available near the field on game day and practices. Please have someone accompany each player to the restroom and help us keep the bathrooms clean.
TEAM MEETING: Kickeroos (U4/U5) teams meet once per week on Saturdays. U6-U12 teams meet only twice per week (once for practice and once for scheduled game.) If successive practices are cancelled due to bad weather, every effort will be made to reschedule practice time. We cannot offer additional practice time for teams due to safety and space concerns.
REFEREES: The coaches will serve as referees for the Kickeroos (U4/U5) and U6 league. Referees are provided for U8 and older teams.
CONDUCT: Unsportsmanlike conduct by players, coaches or fans will not be tolerated. This includes dangerous play, profanity, disrespect or yelling at the referees or players. Any violation of conduct rules will result in immediate expulsion from the game and a 1-game suspension for the following game. Two violations in this area during a season will result in expulsion from the league. This applies to coaches, parents, players, fans, and siblings!
SAFE SANCTUARY TRAINING: Dunwoody UMC is a Safe Sanctuary Facility. All volunteer coaches, including assistant coaches, are required to be Safe Sanctuary certified.
DEVOTION: Each game will begin with the home team coach leading both teams in a prayer at center field. At the conclusion of the game, each team will form a line to shake hands with each other at mid-field.
CONCUSSION TRAINING: HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports is a free, online course available to coaches, parents, and others helping to keep athletes safe from concussion. It takes less than 30 minutes! http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/. Please note: a youth player who has been removed from play, during games or practices, for any concern regarding a possible head injury must receive written clearance from an approved or assigned health care professional before being allowed to return to play.
