Reflections - Aug. 4, 2017

danby Rev. Dan Brown

As summer vacations begin to draw to a close, the ministries at Dunwoody UMC are gearing up. In one sense, it all begins with this Reflections article.

Reflections is a space in e-Connections and the website where you'll hear directly from me. The goal is to help the members and friends of the Church, as well as the community, be fully knowledgeable about the missions and ministries of the Church and to highlight where and how you can get involved. I hope this new touchpoint will help you feel more informed and engaged.

As you have heard throughout the summer, this Sunday, August 6 marks the beginning of our new Sunday schedule:

8:45 am - Contemporary Worship
8:45am - Morning Prayer & Communion (Sanctuary)
9:55am - Sunday School
11:05am - Traditional Worship

This new schedule is going to make it possible for families to worship together, the clergy to be in (and even teach) Sunday School on a more regular basis, Sunday School class members to choose which worship services they want to attend, help create a greater sense of unity in our congregation and enhance all of our worship services.

Add to that the fact our Wednesday Night Suppers start on August 9, FoodStock is Saturday, August 12, and the Blessing of the BackPacks is the following Sunday, August 13 and you can begin to see that there is much that is happening in the Church.

Finally, as the Church gears up by resuming familiar ministries and as we jump headlong into some new ways of doing Church, I want to express my deep appreciation to all of you who have been so encouraging, given so much, and who are so willing to volunteer to help make this great Church an even greater witness for Christ.

See you Sunday, if not before!
