Founded in 1969, Breakthru House is the first long-term residential treatment program in Georgia designed specifically for low-income women. While most "long-term" treatment programs last only 28- 90 days, Breakthru House provides both housing and comprehensive treatment services for up to 18 months. Service opportunities:

  • Supper Club: Organize a group of friends (4-6 volunteers) to share a meal with Breakthru residents. Ideal for first-time volunteer groups. Second Wednesday of month, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Enrichment Group Leader: Lead a life-enrichment activity for our residents. Possible groups include art, gardening, book-club, etc. These activities empower clients to live well-rounded lives and are vital to clients' sustained recovery. Thurs/Fridays 4:00-5:00 p.m.; Sat 1:00-3:00 p.m.
  • Educational Group Leader: Have a special talent, skill-set, or interest to share with others? Contact Breakthru to discuss leading an educational class! Thurs/Fridays 4:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Spirituality Leader: Open to clergy or lay-leaders of any faith. Lead clients in a spiritually enriching discussion or study. Mondays 7:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Campus Improvements: Organize a group of volunteers to help keep our houses and campus beautiful. Service projects include painting, yard-work, landscaping, and house redecoration.
