Potato Drop All Ages.
Bag 1000's of sweet potatoes into small bags to be delivered to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Great for Preschool families!

Blankets for Project Linus Age 10+.
Make no-sew fleece blankets for children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.

Dresses for Zambia Age 8+.
Sew pillow case dresses for orphans. Must know how to sew and bring sewing machine.

Knit In
Knit Mommy Love squares for NICU babies at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. All ages but must know how to knit.

Rice Bags for Holiday Festival Age 8+.
Join those who are recycling rice bags from Rise Against Hunger to make into shopping bags for those attending the Holiday Festival. Sewing skills preferred and sewing machines needed.

Sole Hope Ages 8+.
Make shoes for children in Africa out of old jeans.

Homeless Mats All Ages.
Weave shopping bags into mats for the homeless to sleep on.

UMCOR Flood Buckets All Ages.
Assemble items for to share with flood vicitims.

Breakfast Crew-Cooking/Serving/Cleanup Age 16+.
Assist with cooking and serving food in Fellowship Hall for the great breakfast. Arrive around 6 a.m.

Registration Table Age 18+.
Greet volunteers and point out room locations.
7:00-9:00 a.m.

Care Creations
Assist with recycling at DUMC.

Clean Up
Move tables, chairs, reset church for worship on Sunday. 1:00—3:30 p.m.

Hurricane Harvey Flood Bucket Donations

DUMC is accepting donations to assemble flood buckets during GDOS. Please leave items in the bin near the nursery now through September 29.

  • 5-Gallon bucket with resealable lid
  • Liquid laundry detergent - 50-oz. or 25-oz. bottle(s) only
  • Liquid household cleaner - 12‐ 16 oz. liquid cleaner that can be mixed with water
  • Dish soap - 16-28 oz. bottle, any brand
  • Clothespins
  • Clothesline - 100-ft. or 50-ft. lines - Cotton or plastic
  • Sponges - No cellulose sponges due to mold issues
  • Heavy-duty trash bags - 33-45 gallon sizes
  • Cleaning wipes - Handi-wipes or reusable wipes - No terry cleaning towels
  • Can air freshener - Aerosol or pump
  • Insect repellent spray 6 - 14 oz. aerosol or spray pump with protective cover
  • Kitchen dishwashing gloves - Should be durable enough for multiple uses
  • Pair work gloves - All Cotton - All Leather - Cotton with Leather Palm
  • Scouring pads - No stainless steel, Brillo or SOS pads (nothing with soap built in)
  • Scrub brush - Plastic or wood handle
  • Dust masks
