Rita's Italian Ice Spirit Event - Sunday, May 15, 2:00pm-4:00pm

On Sunday, May 15 from 2:00pm-4:00pm join your preschool buddies for some cool treats and raise funds for the preschool at the same time! The Nicholson family (which includes preschool alum Arabelle and current K student Austin) runs the Rita’s location at 3530 Ashford Dunwoody Road and will donate 20% of all sales to DUMCP. Don’t miss this great event!  There will be a prize wheel for the kids and a raffle for party pack (3qt) of Italian ice – yum!

23rd Annual Ice Cream Social & Silent Auction!

Thank you so much for making the Ice Cream Social one of the most successful ever! Your support helped raise over $12,000, which allows us to purchase the sun shades for the playground! The shades will be installed shortly after school ends.

None of this would have been possible without our wonderful committee members, which include:

Erin Biehler, Shannon Turner, Despina Lamas, Kate Davis, Kelley Brandenburg, Jennifer Dees, Avigail Everding, Betsy Muia, Renee Jarrett, Tracy Petriccione, Allison Klusmann, and Jennifer O’Pry.

There are a few lingering items in the preschool office. If you have yet to pick up your item(s), please do so as soon as possible.

Thank you for continuing to make DUMCP the best preschool around; we could have not been as successful as we were without your generous donations and support! Planning is already underway for next year, so get those bids ready!

All our best,

Caitlin Moran and Callie Parker

Our Program

iStockPreschoolKids1

Our preschool program is available for Toddlers (one year old by September 1st) and up to 5 year olds in our Kindergarten program. Each class is designed to meet the developmental needs of your child. Children flourish in a loving, nurturing Christian environment. “God’s Time” blessings, stories and songs from the Bible are an important part of each day. A developmentally appropriate chapel time is held weekly for our Threes, Fours, and Kindergarteners.

Security. Rest assured that safety is a priority. Every effort is made to provide the safest environment for your child. Strict departure policies and a monitored security door access system are part of this program.

Staff. Our preschool teachers are nurturing, skilled, and experienced early childhood educators. We maintain high standards by attending workshops, seminars, and in-service training classes throughout the year. Each teacher has her own special gifts and talents that make for a loving environment for your child.

Family Oriented. There are many opportunities for parents to be involved in our program. The Parents’ Club is an active organization that supports our program, as well as unites families in our school. We strive to promote a positive relationship with the family through open and ongoing communication and encourage parental involvement. Our active parents make a difference!

Curriculum. Dunwoody UMC Preschool has a dedicated Curriculum Coordinator who develops standards for and ensures that milestones are being met for each age level.

Music Program. Trained music teachers provide a program designed specifically for each age group. Children experience a broad range of music from around the world.

Foreign Language. A native-speaking teacher provides an introduction to Spanish for Fours and Kindergarten through activities, music, and movement.

Kindergym. Creative movement class is always a favorite! Many forms of exercise are enjoyed: stretching, dancing, running, ball rolling, bean bag tossing, and parachute play.

Extended Day. An optional time is offered for our Twos, Threes, Fours, and Kindergarteners in the afternoon. Children enjoy eating lunch, relaxing and socializing with friends. Enrichment programs like Sports, Art, Science, Drama, and Fitness are offered at this time for Threes to Kindergarteners.

Accreditation. Dunwoody United Methodist Church Preschool is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS/CASI). The preschool is also a member of the Georgia Preschool Association and the United Methodist Preschool Association of the North Georgia Conference.
