It’s almost time for your son or daughter to join the most awesome youth program in Dunwoody (180°). It’s very important that your read this letter and take a look at the below dates. Please take a look at the calendar on the reverse page. There will be several summer and fall events that sixth graders may attend.

Confirmation open house for youth and parents is Sunday, August 16th in the youth area at 4:00pm followed by a concert by the 180° Praise Band. All sixth grade youth are encouraged to register for Confirmation. Parents may register their child at the online registration page. Confirmation is a wonderful time in a young person’s life in which they will learn about the Christian faith, the church, Methodist history, Methodist doctrine, and what means to be a member of Christ’s church. We will offer confirmation at 9:00am and 10:30am in the youth area. As always we are looking for parents who are willing to assist us with the Confirmation program and various 6th grade outings. Please contact Stephen at 770-394-0675 ext. 124 if you would be willing to assist us in any way. Youth Choir will begin Sunday, August 16th at 6:00pm for 6th grade.

An overview of Confirmation

We want to stress that Confirmation is the beginning of a faith journey not the end of a process. Sixth graders will join 180° Sunday school Sunday, August 16th at 9:00 or 10:30 for a welcome breakfast. 6th graders have a retreat September 18-20 at Camp Awanita (www.Awanita.org). Each confirmand will be assigned a high school ex-confirmand (ex-con) to meet once or twice a month with the confirmand (September, October, & November). We will have a spring confirmation retreat April 16-18 to Lake Junaluska. Confirmands need to select an adult Friend in Faith (Mentor) to meet with them twice per month Jan.-April. All of this will be covered more at the open house. Confirmation weekend is April 24-25. We will have a banquet and rehearsal Saturday, April 24th at 6:30pm in the gym and youth will be confirmed during worship on Sunday, April 25th!

This year we will offer a confirmation class for parents that will meet once a month and will be taught by Reverend Stephen Streett and Reverend Zack Martin

Acolyte Training: All 6th graders should to be at the acolyte training. We have our first training on Sunday, August 16th in the Sanctuary from 3:00-3:45pm. A DVD version of the training is available online.
